Making Impact
I believe that products should not only make an impact on the consumer’s health and the business’ bottom line, but also have a broader impact on the well-being of the society as a whole. As such, up to 10% of the pre-tax profit will be going to a charity that helps fight bullying and provides educational resources on how to minimize is either digitally or in an institutional setting, like school or workplace. Per National Center for Educational Statistics about 1 out of every 5 middle and high school students report being bullied each year. According to PEW, cyberbullying accounts for approximately 60% of kids aged between 14 and 18, and up to 40% of adults get bullied and harassed online. This behaviour has a major impact on a human’s mental wellbeing and is a contributing to increased levels of depression and suicide.
As a teenager and then an adult I fell a victim to bullying a dozen of times, both in my native country, and as an immigrant to the US; first at school and then at a workplace. It didn’t shatter me, yet it helped to shape me into who I am today. As Abraham Lincoln eloquently put it “I would rather be a little nobody, then to be an evil somebody.”
I am not lonely in this fight. I have you, my dear customers, supporting this great cause and a continuous fight with every purchase that you make. And I am eternally thankful to you for it.
